10 movie characters that have encouraged the ‘shayad se’ phenomena
We may not admit it most of the times but all of us are guilty of daydreaming about that perfect someone. Moreover, we have been daydreaming about that perfect someone based on some of our favourite movie characters. Don’t believe us? Wait till you read this list and nod with us in agreement.
Raj Malhotra – He isn’t called the Badshah of Bolywood for no reason! We all fell in love with the very affable Raj Malhotra played by Shahrukh Khan in ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’. 20 years hence, we still can’t get over this one.
Carrie Bradshaw – High heels and designer clothes, like Carrie Bradshaw, we also wanted to live our life in this wonderful bubble surrounded by labels and love. Played by Sarah Jessica Parker to perfection, this ‘Sex And The City’ character is embedded in ‘shayad se’ style especially in women’s memories.
Rahul Khanna – It seems Shahrukh Khan has a knack of picking these too-good-to-be-true roles. Rahul Khanna from ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ with his endearing smile and equally endearing ways can lull us into daydreaming within seconds.
Nisha – Men in the ‘90s just needed a slight nudge to daydream about their better half as Nisha from ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun!’ played to perfection by Madhuri Dixit. We blame her bright smile and mischevious eyes though.
Sameer – Move away from the elaborate costumes and heart-wrenching love story and you will see Sameer played by Salman Khan in ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ with pure heart and soul. A character so dreamy, we loved everything about him including his quirks.
Geet – She may be a little too loud for your taste, but when the overenthusiastic Geet (played by Kareena Kapoor in ‘Jab We Met’) comes aboard an almost missed train, your heart does tend to race. Living in a ‘shayad se’ world herself, it is hard to avoid an annoyingly adorable character like this.
William Thacker – Hugh Grant otherwise also qualifies to be in this list on his own but his portrayal as Will in ‘Noting Hill’ is another reason why he is here. This earnest comman man who makes even the little things so romantic is why he unfurls the shayad se phenomena to perfection. We know we aren’t alone in telling him ‘I’m just a girl, standing in front of a man, asking him to love her’.
Meera – Played by Deepika Padukone in ‘Love Aaj Kal’, Meera is the modern, confident and honest girlfriend you secretly wanted to have. Shayad se phenomena did convine most of us with this one.
Kabir Mehra – It is hard for Ranveer Singh t be on screen and not mesmerise his audience. But it was such a treat to watch him play Kabir Mehra in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’. The concoction of understated, simmering romance and those big gestures was enough to convince us.
Laila – A movie that gave us more than one life lesson ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ has another one we cannot get over – Laila played by Katrina Kaif. The girl who wants to seize every moment also convinced most men that just maybe some shayad se moments may come true.
