Bridal Wear Trends for 2013 at Shehnaai

Shehnaai 2013 was a star-studded event with celebrities walking the ramp dressed in fashion designer Neeta Lulla’s exclusive line of bridal creations and jewellery designed by Varuna D Jani…

Successful, is one word that best describes this event that was held at JW Marriott Mumbai on 30 March. Bhagyashree Patwardhan, Sonal Chauhan, Vidya Malvade, Mahek Chanchal, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Sheeba and Deepika Singh (Sandhya from Diya Aur Baati Hum) to name a few, dazzled on the ramp in beautiful bridal collections. The show didn’t just have actresses setting the stage on fire, but also male TV personalities like Rohit Roy, Mohammad Nazim (Aham from Sath Nibhana Saathiya), Vishal Singh (Jigar from Sath Nibhana Saathiya), Mahesh Shetty (Sid from Bade Acche Lagte Hain) and Arjun Bijlani from (Miley Jab Hum Tum). Not to forget Karan V Grover who hosted the show.

Beautiful jewellery, bridal outfits with bright colours and a blend of the old and new patterns is what we got to see at the event. Right from beautiful shades of red, pink, turquoise, maroon and orange, Lulla’s creations were simply fabulous. They all looked dashing, but it was the 27-year-old showstopper Sonal Chauhan who was the main attraction of the show. She looked like a bride dressed in a beautiful light pink ghaghra choli with heavy embroidery and silver sequins all over the ghaghra. She walked the ramp with actor and host Rohit Roy. Ask her what type of men does she like and she says, “I like Saif Ali Khan. He’s the perfect man in Bollywood. I would love to marry someone like him.”

She further adds, “Marriage is not on my mind as of now. I think there is no perfect age for marriage. It’s all about finding the right person. So, when I find the right match who I think I can spend the rest of my life with, I will get married.” Talking about the event, Lulla says, “It was a successful evening and I’m glad the audience liked my wedding couture. Every year the wedding wear trend undergoes a change as brides expect something new. Over the years, I have noticed brides are becoming more and more contemporary and that’s the look that I tried to portray at the show. Shehnaai 2013 is extremely close to my heart as 25% of the collection of Shehnaai will be donated to Beti, a charity of Anu Ranjan.”
