World Environment Day is an annual event celebrated on the 5th of June every year across the world. It has become one of the United Nations’ primary ways to raise global awareness of environmental issues and to help stimulate political attention, public action and personal commitment to environmental preservation.
It is also a day for people from all walks of life to come together to ensure a cleaner, greener and brighter outlook for themselves and the future generations. In recent times, eco-friendly weddings have also become a rage. It’s possible to have a lavish dream wedding and yet be a bit more considerate to mother Earth. All it takes is a little tweaking and rethinking of your invitations, decoration, catering and honeymoon.
Quick Facts» This day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972
» The theme for 2012 is Green Economy: Does it include you?
» Every year, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) selects a theme for this day
