Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Mahavir, the founder of Jain religion who taught the world the essence of ‘Unity of Life’. Mahavir’s idol is given a holy bath on this day known as ‘abhishek’ and devotees make offerings of milk, rice, fruit, and incense.
Along with the huge processions in Gujarat and Rajasthan, lectures are also held to preach the path of virtue on this day. Keeping with Mahavir’s teaching, a big part of this festival is working for noble causes like helping the less fortunate and standing up against cow slaughter.
May Mahavir’s blessings bring you peace, happiness and a perfect life partner. Here’s wishing you all a very Happy Mahavir Jayanti!
